The International Leader in Aviation, Space and Environmental Dentistry.

The International Association of Aerospace Dentistry (IAAD) is an affiliate organization of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA), the largest most represented professional organization in the fields of aviation, space, and environmental medicine. AsMA is represented by aerospace medicine specialists, flight nurses physiologists, psychologists, environmental and human factor specialists, dentists, optometrists, and researchers in these fields. The IAAD is “The Voice of Dentistry in Aerospace Medicine.” Staying abreast with the latest research available to further enhance the safety and dental health of crews in space, aviation, and diving related activities. Our focus is to promote the field of aerospace dentistry, and make information available to the professions of dentistry, and medicine, as well as the public, so that we can enhance the safety of those that deal with changes in ambient barometric pressure.

Mission Statement

Advance dental medicine, science, technology, and procedures to promote and enhance the health, safety, and performance of those involved in aviation, space, and related activities.

Goals

1. To highlight the contribution of dentistry to aviation, space, and environmental medicine, as it applies to normal, accident investigation, and emergency response operations.

2. To promote information exchange, collaborative research opportunities, and world-wide cooperation between clinical, scientific, academic, forensic, and other resources as a means of supporting advances in dental medicine, science, technology, and procedures of benefit to operations in aviation, space, and other stressful environments.

3.     To represent the discipline of dental medicine to professional, commercial, military, academic, and governmental organizations world-wide and advocate policies and standards so as to enhance the health, safety, and performance of those involved in aviation, space, and related activities.
